What we process, and why
- Your email address and consent record
- Your address, its status (pending, confirmed or unsubscribed), the consent wording version you agreed to, and the times you signed up, confirmed or unsubscribed. We use these to run the waitlist and to show that you agreed. Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Keeping the record of consent and withdrawal rests on our legitimate interest in being able to prove it, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
- Confirmation and unsubscribe links
- Each email carries a confirmation link, valid for 48 hours and usable once, and an unsubscribe link. We store only a hash of these links, not the links themselves.
- Abuse protection
- To limit repeated signups, we count requests per IP address in 10-minute windows. We store a keyed hash of the IP address, not the address itself, and never link it to your email. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the service, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
- Hosting
- Like any website, this one can't be delivered without technical data such as your IP address, which our hosting provider processes to serve the page and protect the network. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
What we don't do
This site uses no cookies, analytics, tracking pixels or advertising. Its fonts are served from this site, so no third-party font service is contacted. We don't sell your data.
Our own error logs record only an event name, error type and error code. They never contain email addresses, confirmation or unsubscribe tokens, or query strings.
Emails we send
We use Cloudflare Email Sending only for the transactional confirmation email that completes your signup. It goes out only after you submit the form, and you join the waitlist only by clicking its link. Your consent also covers a later email about the waitlist and when the community opens. That email would not go through Cloudflare Email Sending: we would use a separate provider and name it here before the first such email.
Service provider
Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA acts as our processor. It hosts this site (Workers), stores the waitlist data (D1) and delivers the confirmation email (Email Sending) on our behalf, under Cloudflare's standard Self-Serve Subscription Agreement. Section 6.1 of that agreement incorporates Cloudflare's Customer Data Processing Addendum (version 6.4 at the time of writing).
Data may be processed outside the EU, including in the USA. The addendum addresses such transfers through the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
These periods are our own policy, not a fixed legal requirement.
- Unconfirmed signups: deleted 30 days after the signup.
- Confirmed signups: kept until you unsubscribe or the waitlist ends.
- After you unsubscribe: your address and the consent and withdrawal times are kept for 3 years as proof of your consent or withdrawal, and used for nothing else. Ask us if you'd like them deleted sooner.
- Hashed IP counters: deleted within about two days.
Your rights
You can withdraw your consent at any time with the unsubscribe link in your email or by writing to us. This doesn't affect anything done before you withdrew. You also have the right to access, correction, deletion, restriction and portability of your data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to mail@studivents.com.
You may complain to a data protection authority. Ours is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Ansbach, Germany.
Giving us your email address is voluntary, but we can't add you to the waitlist without it. We make no automated decisions about you.
